It is quite in order to get a good bearing before we proceed. The resort part of Cancun is built on an island that was also developed for the same reason. This island is shaped like the figure 7 and is 14 miles long. To the north you will find the Caribbean Sea. To the west you will find Isla Mujeres – the Isle of Women. As you leave for the mainland you will find Nichupte Lagoon where you can enjoy all the watersports that you fancy. This lagoon is also home to two hundred species of birds.
The first thing that will draw your attention is the long beach that gives way to the Caribbean Sea. The beach is tropically exquisite and one will be wowed by the sparkling white sands that line the blue-green waters of the sea. At the tip of the figure 7 you will find Playa Chac Mool. This is a public beach that has lots of restaurants but no hotels. As you drive down the Paseo Kukulcan, a 20km stretch of road that joins Cancun City to the hotels, you will enjoy the shops, hotels, and malls that line your way. Cancun City will offer you a remarkable choice of shopping locations, budget hotels, and restaurants. Its main street, the Avenida Tulum, is graced with breathtaking reproductions of ancient sculptures. The Mexico Magico is a popular theme park. For those who appreciate the ancient Mayan culture you will be glad to visit the Chichen Itza. This restored city includes a magnificent temple and the largest Mayan ball court anywhere. This resplendent location is approximately 200km from Cancun and is accessed by car or bus. You can also visit the Coba Ruins, the most ancient Mayan site. The ruins of the six thousand buildings that made up the area are now overgrown by dense tropical jungle. Here you will also find the tallest pyramid in Cancun.

Metropol Parasol Sevilles modern marvel
A once derelict parking lot has been turned into a space-age homage to modern architecture. A vast swirling sequence of wood, steel and concrete mushrooms supporting overhead walkways, the Parasol is truly incredible. Some might say it's totally out of kilter with the stately old Baroque buildings that surround the square it occupies, but I think it's tremendous. You can ascend to the upper level and stroll along elevated walkways for fabulous views of the structure itself and across the rooftops of the city. On one of the upper levels there are also plans for a tapas bar/restaurant which will offer guests panoramic views as they drink and dine. In the basement you'll also find a museum of Roman remains carefully saved during the building's creation.(A separate entry fee of 2 Euros applies.) The local fresh produce market is also located here, a natural hub which gives the building a greater sense of humanity. Seville Archeology Museum Rocking Roman Remnants Housed in the Gothic Pavilion built for the 1929 Great Ibero-American Exhibition in Parque Maria Luisa, Seville archaeology museum houses some truly impressive finds. It’s an old style museum so don't expect any interactive audiovisuals or other modern technology. But don't let that put you off the exhibits. Here you don't need any smoke and mirrors to impress. The basement contains a host of sparkling golden gems and jewelry (some of it imitation) from the incredible finds at nearby Carambolo whilst the ground floor is packed with awesome Roman remains from nearby Italica in particular. Stars of the show for me are the huge mosaics in particular The Triumph of Bacchus which depicts the god of wine being pulled along on a chariot by two tigers in room 13. Cancun is a blend of both ancient history and a modern and exquisite resort industry.
Over seven centuries ago Cancun was the very place where the legendary Mayan civilization and culture flourished. Today, Cancun is easily amongst the premier resort destinations on the planet. Cancun has the whole package; the tropical ambience that lasts for majority of the year, an array of shopping locations, exquisite restaurants that serve the most tantalizing foods, and that unforgettable nightlife characteristic of the city, including famous casinos. Cancun is a most beautiful place to visit. Its shores on the Caribbean coast are vast expanses of glistening white sand merging into the turquoise waters of the sea. This Yucatan peninsula tip residents enjoy 200+ sunshine days a year. The temperatures are in the range of 80F all year long. The Cancun mainland is a departure from the fast life that thrills tourists in the adjoining 14-mile long island that is straddled with hotels. In the mainland there are local markets, there are quite a number of street vendors, and lots of cafes that you can enjoy. The 450,000 people that live here celebrate their land with fiestas and holidays. There are lots of traditional dances graced by costumed dancers. These dances are generations old. There is the occasional bullfight where the rules stipulate that both fighter and bull emerge unscathed from their duel. Cancun is the perfect destination for the entire family. There are lots of fun places to visit including the Cancun Convention Centre. Here you will find the acclaimed AquaWorld facility that offers tourists lots of exhilarating activities like kayaking, catamarans, water skiing, name it. You can also explore the sea in underwater explorer crafts that have glass in the sides to enable you see. Avid nightlife fans can enjoy the island’s discos. For the romantics you can always listen to sweet Latin music or go for nighttime dinner cruises. When To Go To Cancun The weather is definitely one of the most important considerations when you are making plans to visit Cancun. As one of the most desirable tropical paradises in the world, Cancun is amazing during the sunny season where the sea waters are all warm and enjoyable. Luckily for you, Cancun enjoys this tropical weather for most of the year and the temperatures average 80F in these times. It is mostly rainy between May-October. This does not seem to hinder people from sunbathing and sightseeing though. The period from November to April is dry in contrast and temperatures average between 82-86F. With all these forecasts, most people opt to visit Cancun in early September since it is pleasantly sunny and hot. Since school holidays are generally over at this time Cancun has fewer crowds and is thus more enjoyable. Cancun enjoys the most visitors in the period between December April. In the span of these five months there are pleasant temperatures both day and night. This makes it the best time to visit this resort. With more tourists the prices tend to be elevated mostly in mid-December until early January. Persons planning to visit Cancun at these times, including the Spring and Easter breaks, are well advised to make prior bookings for accommodation. The prices decrease after Easter and since the weather is still quite pleasant one can enjoy an economical holiday then. The season between June and October is prone to hurricanes and visitors are advised to pay attention to storm watches. Those who really enjoy swimming in the lovely waters of the Caribbean Sea are advised to avoid doing so between the 2nd and 4th weeks of April. It is in this duration that thimble jellyfish mate at the shores and any contact with them will result in you getting a fever. |
